Tinubu’s past haunts him...

*New affidavit alleges money laundering & other crimes
By Abdullahi Tasiu Abubakar

Fresh charges of fraud, forgery and money laundering are threatening the re-election bid of Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the coming April polls.
Daily Trust gathered that these charges–and many more–have already been sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the anti-corruption commission and security agencies, seeking for his disqualification and prosecution.

An Alliance for Democracy (AD) governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Olowu, has deposed to an affidavit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, affirming his beliefs on the charges.
Daily Trust has in its possession both the affidavit and a 97–page petition specifying the charges, with documents, against the governor.

Although the petition restates past forgery allegations that had earlier been the subject of legal tussle between Governor Tinubu and Lagos lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, it also brings fresh allegations against the governor.

Top among them are drug and money laundering–related charges which Olowu said had led to the confiscation of Tinubu’s 460,000 US dollars (about N62 million) by a US court in 1993.
Citing the court’s records, Olowu alleged that Tinubu was docked at the US District Court in the Northern District of Illinois State in relation to the charges.

According to the petition, the records show that an American Special Agent, Kevin Moss, had deposed to an affidavit, alleging that Tinubu was probably involved in illicit drug and money laundering activities in violation of US laws 18 USC SS 1956 and 1957.

The agent also averred that the money held in Tinubu’s and his company’s accounts at the US First Heritage Bank, N.A. and Citibank International "represents the proceeds of drug trafficking, making the fund in the accounts forfeitable to the United States, pursuant to 18 USC S981 and 21 USC S881."

Olowu said: "Any doubt as to the veracity of the depositions of Special Agent Kevin Moss in terms of the forgoing is erased by the fact that Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu engaged the US procedure of Plea bargain which resulted in the US court confiscating the $460,000 in the foregoing terms on September 15, 1993 by US District Judge John A. Nordberg," (see Document A on page 4).

But reacting to this particular allegation through his Information Commissioner, Governor Tinubu denied ever facing charges on drug trafficking and money laundering activities.

He did, however, admit that he forfeited the 460,000 US dollars in question to the US government in a negotiated settlement after a civil case was brought against the funds in his accounts in the US banks.

But, he said, he did that only to avoid substantial legal costs which would have followed in the absence of a compromise.

Tinubu’s defence was contained in a statement issued by Information Commissioner, Mr. Dele Alake, and published by yesterday’s edition of Sunday Punch and This Day on Sunday.
Alake said the civil suit was brought against Tinubu’s funds (and not Tinubu in person) in 1993 based on the Special Agent Kevin Moss’s suspicious that the funds were involved in financial transactions in violation of US laws.

"No criminal charge was ever brought or considered in conjunction with this lawsuit. It was a forfeiture action only and as no charges had arisen against anyone, no conviction or resulting sentence could possibly flow from such a civil law proceeding," he said.

"As the proceedings dragged on, Bola Tinubu incurred huge legal expenses and was later advised, in view of the time, effort and expense required for long drawn out legal proceedings in the US, to enter into negotiations with the US Attorney for a compromise settlement of claims to the funds," he added.

"The terms of the settlement actually reflected the Tinubu’s position that he was the rightful owner of the funds at issue and disputed the plaintiff’s allegation that any of the account funds represented the proceeds of illegal or wrongful activities," the statement added.

"It was only to avoid substantial legal costs, which would have followed in the absence of a compromise that he (Tinubu) agreed to withdraw his claim of entitlement to (the) $460,000 USAD.
"
The amount was never proven to be the proceeds of any illegal acts and there was never any legal proceeding held to determine anything more than the funds would (be forfeited) to the government without contest as part of the settlement Agreement," he added. (See Tinubu Defence on Pg. 5).
However, the petition against Tinubu was not only restricted to drug and money laundering allegations.

The petitioner also accused Tinubu of forgery and falsification of claims relating to his educational and professional qualifications.

Olowu alleged that Tinubu neither obtained a bachelors degree from the University of Chicago nor was he a Certified Public Accountant as he (Tinubu) claimed in the screening form he submitted to INEC in 1998.

"Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu never attended either the University of Chicago or the Chicago State University at anytime contrary to his claims. Neither did he obtain any B. Sc degree in Economics or Business Administration from any university. Indeed, he never qualified as a certified public accountant," he said.

Also, citing the contents of Tinubu’s passport and INEC’s screening form CF 001, Olowu further accused Tinubu of falsification of age.

"On Form CF 001, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu claimed to have been born in Lagos on March 29, 1952 whilst by passport No. A158399 issued by the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 16th February 1988, he was entered to have been born on 29th March, 1954 in Iragbiji, a place in Osun State of Nigeria," Olowu said (see Documents B and C on page 4).

An act of forgery alone, Olowu said, had clearly disqualified Tinubu from contesting elections as provided by Section (i) (j) of the 1999 constitution.

Similarly, Olowu alleged that Tinubu contravened Section 183 of the same constitution by being the Governor of Lagos and simultaneously remaining as a director of Compass Finance and Investment Company Limited.

He said "records of the CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) in Nigeria confirms that as at 23rd July 2002, Bola Tinubu remains a director of Compass Finance and Investment Company Limited in addition to both Abiodun Agbele and Mueez Akande, identified as his long standing drug and money laundering associates in the Affidavit of Agent Kevin Moss." (see Document D on page 4).

In the petition, Olowu called on INEC to disqualify Tinubu from participating in the coming elections, and pleaded with the Inspector-General of Police to prosecute him.
He said the petition has shown "with compelling finality" that Tinubu "is not fit to be accepted as an aspirant" for the office of Lagos State Governor by INEC in the 2003 elections.

On the whole, we invite each of the authorities to commence their respective investigations into the above activities with a view to involving relevant and appropriate procedures," he added.

The petition’s cover note shows that both the petition and the affidavit had been submitted to the INEC, Independent Corrupt Practices and related offences Commission (ICPC) the Code of Conduct Bureau and the State Security Service headquarters in Abuja on the 17th of January, 2003.
When Daily Trust got the petition about two weeks ago, it made efforts to reach Governor Tinubu for his reactions.

On two occasions, Daily Trust contacted the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Segun Ayobolu, both on which he promised to provide detailed defence, but in vain.

In the first instance, he said that no one should take the petitions serious because "these are political times" when opponents engage in acts of "mud slinging and blackmail."

He, however, promised to visit our office in Abuja to provide us with their detailed defence.
Last Friday, too, he phoned again and said that he was coming to Abuja at the weekend to bring the details of their defence against the petition. He never did.

Lagosians warn against emergence of non-indigene as Fashola's successor

 1004F04.Babatunde-Fashola.jpg - 1004F04.Babatunde-Fashola.jpg

The emergence of Akinwunmi Ambode as the Governor of Lagos State is an injustice and a slap on the faces of Lagosians.

In this democratic dispensation since 1999, Lagos State has had so many non-indigenous people occupying leadership positions both in the political and administrative cadres which was not in the best interest of the indigenous in the state.

Bola Tinubu has played the role of God Father and King maker in the state with a sinister motive to protect his own selfish interest resulting in the indigenous people of Lagos State being reduced to second class citizens.

Our interest now and in the future must be well protected by having our sons and daughters in positions of authority in the state. In particular, the position of the governor cannot and must not be compromised to favour non-indigenes instead of indigenous Lagosians.

Already, the entire governmental structures and institutions in the state are filled with non-indigenes at top levels to the detriment of our people. We cannot allow this trend to continue. We must wake up to this reality.

FREEDOM
No one can continue to suppress and oppress the indigenous people of Lagos State forever . The spirit of ALLAH will eventually break the jinx. Now, we are determined to free our people from the shackles of SLAVERY imposed on us by Bola Tinubu .

Obanikoro bemoans ‘marginalisation of Lagos indigenes’

LAGOS—THE former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has decried what he described as alleged marginalisation of Lagos indigenes in running of the affairs of the state.
He also urged the indigenes to come together for the benefit of the younger generation irrespective of political divide.

Senator  Obanikoro said this at the 6th Herbert Macaulay Memorial Lecture entitled ‘The Place of Lagos State Indegenes’, in Lagos.
In his address, the minister said that all Lagos State indigenes must stand together to resist a conscious effort to shrink the political and economic space of the indigenes.
According to him: “Today the indigenes of Lagos State  stand at the praecipe.

“In the last 16 years of democracy, the true number of Lagos indigenes that have been commissioner are up to 10. Similar trend has been seen at the National Assembly.”
He noted that it is more saddening that majority of those who have been at the helm of affairs in Lagos are from other Yoruba states saying; “When I was a Senator, I was the only indigenous Senator representing Lagos State.”

While he alleged that non-indigenes “have cornered the resources of Lagos for themselves to the detriment of the indigenes,” he pointed out that there was nothing wrong in the Lagos State government putting in place more  efforts to empower indegenes.

He said: “What we must do is to use the platform of the Association of Lagos Indigenes to protect what belong to us. The world over, efforts are made to give indigenes their right of place irrespective of their number. The fact that we are generous should not make us a victim. We should work to ensure that our status as indigenes are restored.”

Speaking further, he said; “We cannot downplay the principle of peaceful co-existence. Lagos is the most important symbol of unity in Nigeria. We must be counted among those who will  stand up. Lagos deserves a befitting. We must be counted among those who will  stand up. Lagos deserves a befitting special status. By its special status, it can stand as a country on its own. And that is why Lagos must be well protected”.

Comment:
Well Done, Senator Obanikoro. It is true talk that Lagos Indigenes have been marginalized, even till today. The indigenous of Lagos no longer have a voice in the running of the state affairs. Our people are being retrenched en-mass from The Lagos State Secretariat and other Parastatal.

All these happenings are being masterminded by Bola Tinubu. We have to work together to prevent our people from being suppressed and oppress by Bola Tinubu.

Lagos State unending Borrowing from Foreign Lenders

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday asked the Senate to approve a $200 million World Bank loan for Lagos State.

Buhari in a letter entitled: “Request for special approval of Lagos State DPO 11 under the Federal Government external borrowing rolling plan 2015 to 2017,” requested the Senate to endorse the loan expeditiously.

The letter reads in part, “I refer to the above subject and request approval for Development Policy Operation (DPO) loan (Budget Support) of US$200 million to Lagos State from the World Bank.
“You may wish to know that the World Bank approved a DPO loan for a total sum of US$600 million to Lagos State Government in 2010 to be implemented in three tranches of US$200 million per annum.

“The first tranche was approved by the National Assembly in the 2010-2012 Federal Government External (Rolling) Borrowing Plan and the second tranche was in the 2012-2014 plan.
“The DPO 1has been successfully implemented as adjudged by the World Bank, the Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved the second tranche of the DPO on April 29, 2015.

“The DPO 111 was captured in the Federal Government External (Rolling) Borrowing Plan of 2014-2016 which was discussed with the National Assembly, but was not concluded.
“Pursuant to the above, therefore I seek for your support to facilitate the consideration and approval of the DPO 111 loan of US$200million to enable the state to consolidate on the gains of the second tranche of the DPO 11.

‘It is instructive to note that key programme objectives of the DPO are already beginning to show in terms of increased inflow of private investment to the state, increased private sector employment opportunities and increased internally generated revenues.”

Comment:

The World Bank had already approved  $200m loan to Lagos State in April 2015. Already, the state is the most indebted state in Nigeria . The debt of Lagos State before this loan is N700b and the level of infrastructure on the ground does not merit the huge debt incurred. While the earnings of Nigeria have dropped sharply from oil sales due to a glut in the global oil price.

The question is how can Lagos State repays back its debt ? . The State taxation is over the roof to many inhabitant of the state and also corruption is endemic. My main concern is how this money will be spent by the new Governor ,Ambode?.

The Infrastructural development in Lagos State is one sided as most of the development is towards the lekki axis where illegally acquired Landed properties of Bola Tinubu is located. Poverty is very rife and people are suffering . Too much borrowings will actually strangle the State when it comes to repayment because the state allocations from the Federal is dwindling .

The federal Government should curb states from borrowing money abroad because it is not being utilised for its original purpose . Soon, Lagos credit facilities will be withdrawn and it will join the leagues of States that are unable to pay workers' salaries . Lagos has been raped Dry by Bola Tinubu and his cronies .

MAY THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH HELP US IN LAGOS STATE AND NIGERIA AS A WHOLE.

Bola Tinubu - Oando PLC

Oando PLC is one of the numerous companies controlled by proxy for Bola Tinubu . Oando PLC is worth about $476 Million, which is a huge amount . Bola Tinubu became the Governor of Lagos State in 1999 and before then he did not have money. What kind of Business could he have done from 1999 up till today for him to have acquired so much ?.

The answer to this is not far fetch, all these came from his illegal acquisitions ...of resources of Lagos State . Lagos State resources have been plundered by Bola Tinubu. The State is the most indebted state in Nigeria with an external debt of $1.4 Billion and the infrastructural development of Lagos State does not match the huge debt incurred . THIS IS A SHAME! .

The CHANGE which Bola Tinubu campaigned for in the last elections does not include Lagos State and it is continuity of business as usual. He always claim that "Lagos is in my pocket". Soon, Lagos State will join the league of states that cannot afford to pay workers' salaries .

Our Doctors are always on strike due to poor welfare. Infrastructural development in Lagos is concentrated in the Lekki axis where the majority of Bola Tinubu landed properties are located. The Government of Lagos State borrows money from the World Bank to develop the area, only for Bola Tinubu's Landed properties to appreciate in value, in the end he smiles to the Bank at the detriment of the poor people of Lagos State.

If this level of corruption by one person continues in Lagos State, then what would remain for the younger generation to inherit. The future of our youths has been mortgaged. Our people are suffering and live in abject poverty.

So far, as Bola Tinubu holds his Political and economical grip on Lagos State , the political and economical development of the indigenous people will never materialise and therefore our people will be backward and remain in his bondage .

The time is now ripe for the indigenes of Lagos State to REVOLT against Bola Tinubu . We want to break away from the BONDAGE and SLAVERY imposed on the people of Lagos State .
MAY THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH HELP US IN LAGOS STATE AND NIGERIA AS A WHOLE.

Nigerian Pres’ Svengali Tied to Heroin

This is a very sad development for Our Country. Nigerians, who are desperate to make quick money has to resort to trafficking Drugs abroad . It seems the problem stems from our perception of convicted drug dealers in the Country. Some convicted Drug dealers are still being respected after their crime and went on to even attain political power in our Country . So what lesson are we teaching our Youths . Our Youths are confused and they see such person as their Role Model .

An example is the case of Bola Tinubu , A former drug baron who in 1993 was nabbed by the USA Anti narcotics agency after running rings of Heroin business in the city of Chicago. After being found guilty of his offense, his asset was forfeited, to the tune of $460,000 by the Court using the Forfeiture law in the USA . After his heinous Crime , he rose to become the Governor of Lagos State and served for 8 years, where he corruptly enriched himself and treat Lagos State as his personal property. Today, he is one of the chieftains of the ruling Party, APC.

Now, the effect of this is the increase in the number of Nigerians involved in drug trafficking abroad because they want to emulate people like Bola Tinubu. Nigeria should shun convicted Drug dealer and ban them from holding any political post in the Country.

Bola Tinubu is not a good role model for Nigeria. He is a former drug warlord that is now seeking political power to oppress and suppress the indigenous people of Lagos State. He is a dictator,a political trader and a drug baron.
